As most Michiganders know the ban on texting while driving went in to effect today, but I just learned a little interesting peice of the law... it doesn't apply to texting while you are STOPPED. On the radio this morning they were interviewing an officer and he said that the law specificially states texting while moving so their is no penalty for texting while stopped at a stop sign/ traffic light / etc.! I looked up the law to make sure before I posted this so click here if you are interested in reading the wording! :)
P.S. Did you know that the term "Michigander" as used above is was once used as an offensive term for people from Michigan? (But it isn't anymore).
