What it's like dating someone who has the same name as your brother...

It's confusing. But hilarious! (And convenient.)

Ok, so for those of you who don't know, I am currently dating a beautiful man named Jonathan Williams. Our names have caused some confusion for both of us because we share the same last name but it's even MORE confusing for me because my little brother's name is actually John Williams. Most people know I have a brother but because he has his own set of friends and hobbies a lot of my Grand Rapids friends haven't actually met him before. This makes it a little weird when photos pop up on Facebook of Jonathan and I hugging flirtatiously. I'm sure it's caused a head-scratch or two. ;)

One of my favorite reasons (outside of the fact that I hopefully won't ever have to change my name!) that I love sharing last names with someone that I'm dating is that it's a CONSTANT joke. Everyone we meet thinks it's funny. Everyone loves to come up with ideas on how we will handle marriage. "Williams-Williams?" "Williams^2?" It makes me smile every. single. time.

We've also found that it's been oddly convenient because we can pick up packages addressed to the other from the post offices or snag each others credit card from the bar and if they ask to see our ID it's always just assumed we are married. 

So, it might be unconventional and it might make people cringe a bit to think about but honestly, dating someone with the same name as my brother is actually the best thing ever. (Regardless of his name.)
