The 28 Highlight Reel
In true form, I give you my highlight reel from my 28th year of life (in no particular order):
- Going to Vail, Colorado where I was able to hug my long-lost little bro and cousin, ski with my dad, and laugh non-stop with my friends and sister.
- Watching Rachel Payne grab the mic and ramble straight-up ridiculousness at our HS reunion.
- Being overwhelmed with gratitude when I was feeling super down and my mom, dad, and Bob all showed up at my house and just started crossing projects off my to-do list.
- Spending ~50 Sunday evenings having delicious dinners with my family, and watching our littlest member, Hazel, finally learn to say, “Lizzie” and “Barlow”. :)
- Wiping tears from my eyes as I dropped Mariah and Destiny off at their first day of camp.
- Hosting over 39 slumber parties at my crib in Eastownn. (Ok, technically 23 of those people did PAY me via Airbnb – but still!)
- Working with an awesome team at OST to allocate funds/support/volunteers/etc. to over 35 non-profit organizations in GR, Detroit and Minneapolis. Boom-shaka-laka.
- Slapping bags, drinking Ice through a unicorn mask, getting into awkward human pyramids, consuming way too much fireball, and other forms of ridiculousness at the 6 Bachelorette parties I was lucky enough to survive. ;)
- Traveling to Nashville with one of my best friends since preschool with absolutely NO agenda or expectations.
- Soaking up the healing powers of scotch, and those I enjoyed it with.
- Getting legitimately scared about driving a Nascar on the Michigan International Speedway, but doing it anyways. (6 Laps, y’all!)
- Celebrating 9 well-matched couples begin their lives as husband & wife.
- Working with interior designers (Kelley Howley + Fernando Ramirez) to help me craft a vision for my house that sparked all sorts of new projects (and purchases)!
- Finally crossing “Stay in a yurt” off my Bucket List.
- Learning THE BAG GAME. (Prob because it’s one of the few games I’m actually good at!)
- Submitting an expense report with a party photo from high-school instead of my receipt.
Thanks for sending so much love my way this year! Gonna do my best to soak up the last 365 days as a "twenty-something"!
