My good friend Jacky was telling me a story yesterday about her boss Tracy (whom I also know) at the Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau. I was cracking up listening to how Tracy's husband had bid on a chance for Tracy to be an extra in Hugh Jackman's new movie "Real Steel" which was being filmed in Mason, Michigan. Apparently Tracy's a pretty big fan of Hugh and she had quite an expirience getting to see The Wolverine in all his glory! The main thing that stood out to me in Jacky's description of the event (aside from picturing Tracy swooning over Hugh Jackman like a 12 year old girl...just kidding Trace) was how long it took to 'get the shot' that Tracy was being filmed in because they had to apparently wet down the sidewalk between each take. The reason for constant sprinkling is to have conformity of the tone of the sidewalk in the shot and it makes it look like it is a fresh, clean, evenly laid sidewalk. I am sure there are thousands of "tricks of the trade" in the film industry that I don't know about but now I at least know one! Maybe one of these days I'll take advantage of all the filming that is coming to Michigan and actually make my way to an audition. It IS on my "Life List" to be an extra in a film... If you know of anyone who could help me achieve this goal, let me know! :)
