Today at work I learned about acidity in different framing material and how to protect your artwork from touching any surfaces that contain acid (acid free matte board, tape, protectors, etc). I had originially thought the reason for this was to protect the art from corruption and that it would slowly...I don't know... dissinegrate? But apparently the whole acid-free movement is really to keep the integrity of the color and to now allow the acid to "leak" if you will into your image causing the paper to yellow / paint to dull / image to warp / etc.!
I also learned that BMW started out building plane engienes which is why their logo signifies the movement of a propeller - the white is the air cutting through the blue sky. Who knew!
